The former Nirvana bassist was asked what he thought about an ABBA Voyage-style show featuring the grunge band.
Krist Novoselic isn't saying "never" when it comes to the chances of Nirvana doing a ABBA Voyage style show with their late frontman Kurt Cobain's hologram.
The grunge rockers are currently celebrating 30 years since the release of their final album In Utero and quizzed if he could see the band's surviving members creating something similar to the Swedish pop outfit, he told MOJO magazine: “You never know!
“I’ll say ‘no way’, then it’s like, ‘How much?? When do we start?!"
His response about a Nirvana avatar show may have been somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but one thing Novoselic does look forward to is the time he can get back on stage with his former bandmates and now Foo Fighters rockers Dave Grohl and Pat Smear.
“I’m always hoping for that,” he told the outlet. “There was a time where I thought I’d never play those songs again. We had a conversation – ‘Let’s do it, but not overdo it.’ So yeah, when it’s the right moment.”
Earlier this month it was announced that the 30th anniversary of In Utero will be marked with a series of deluxe editions, featuring 53 previously-unreleased tracks.
The unreleased material includes two full In Utero-era concerts - Live In Los Angeles (1993) and the band’s final Seattle performance, Live In Seattle (1994) - plus six bonus live tracks from Rome, Springfield, and New York.
The series of reissues will include a limited-edition 8-disc Super Deluxe vinyl box set, a 5CD set and a vinyl edition which comes with a bonus 10" of b-sides and bonus tracks.
In Utero’s original twelve songs, along with five bonus tracks and B-sides, have been newly remastered from the original analog master stereo tapes by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Services — who assisted producer Steve Albini on the original sessions.
The reissues will be released on 27th October 2023. You can pre-order and pre-save from various outlets here.
The Super Deluxe editions will include bonus items that include a 48-page book with unseen photos, a reproduction of a Los Angeles gig poster, replicas of the promo Angel mobile, three replica gig flyers, all-access tour laminates and backstage passes.
