Green Day have returned with their brand new single The American Dream Is Killing Me.

With it comes a killer film noir-inspired video, which was shot in Los Angeles and sees the band - comprised by Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool - in the midst of a zombie apocalypse.

The call-to-arms track is the lead single and opening song on the band's forthcoming studio album, Saviors, which is set for release on 19th January 2024.

Billie Joe Armstrong describes the new song as “a look at the way the traditional American Dream doesn’t work for a lot of people -- in fact, it’s hurting a lot of people.”

It was a no brainer for the band to make the song their first single, explaining: "As soon we cut it, we said, `Okay, that’s going first."

The band have also shared the artwork for the new album, which is co-produced by Dookie and American Idiot producer Rob Cavallo.

A tracklisting has yet to be shared, but the band have promised "much more" is still to come.
