Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore And The Horrors Announced for Fly Awards

Thurston Moore has been announced as the recipient of the Living Legend Award at The Fly Awards 2014 for inspiring a generation with his work in Sonic Youth and beyond.

The Fly is celebrating 15 years as a national magazine by holding its first ever awards ceremony, which will take place at The Forum in Kentish Town, London on February 6 2014.

The Horrors will also be recognised at next year's ceremony. It has been announced today that they will recieve the Outstanding Artistry Award in Asociation with War Child and will be performing at the event.

"War Child believe the best music can change not only people's mood but people's lives," Ben Knowles, Director of Fundraising at War Child said.

"We are proud that The Horrors will be receiving the Outstanding Artistry Award in our name at 2014's The Fly Awards. A band whose thrillingly uncompromising live shows, three incredible albums and refusal to conform to trends has marked them as an individual talent and seen them inspire devotion among their growing legion of fans.

"The award is deserved recognition."
