The Official Chart Company has confirmed the bestselling albums of 2014 included George Ezra, Paolo Nutini and Arctic Monkeys.

The Official Chart Company (OCC) has issued its rundown of 2014's bestselling albums and it's proved how great a year it was for guitar music.

George Ezra, Paolo Nutini and Coldplay all feature in the Top 5 most popular albums of the year, while Arctic Monkeys and Bastille also ranked in the Top 20 with their records. Ezra sold 678,000 copies of his debut album, spending half the year in the top 10, while Caustic Love by Nutini was the fastest-selling album of the year.

Royal Blood went from featuring in last year's Great X-Pectations list to having the 22nd most purchased album of the year.

Veteran acts did well too, with AC/DC and Foo Fighters making it into the Top 30 despite releasing their albums late in the year.

And it seems the OCC is predicting plenty of guitar bands will make a big splash in 2015, with AC/DC and Fleetwood Mac's festival appearances expected to keep their music riding high in the charts.

Coldplay's next album A Head Full Of Dreams, which could be the group's last, is expected in 2015 and with a world tour also lined up, the band are predicted to sell plenty of albums this year.

Album sales fell this year, with digital down 9% and physical down 6.9% - but streaming has boomed in the past 12 months, with a nearly 100% increase.
