John Power reminisces on supporting Oasis Live '25

The frontman and La's legend has been telling Chris Moyles that his band's appearance with the Gallaghers last years was like a "communion".

John Power has been telling Radio X that his band CAST's stint on the Oasis Live '25 tour was like a "communion" - but that he's not sure he'll even be on the guest list if the Gallaghers make a return to live performance next year.

Asked by Chris Moyles if he knew anything about the hotly-rumnoured Oasis shows at Knebworth and beyond in 2027, Power laughed: "Is that happening though? There's a lot of rumours. I've been in this industry long enough to know that rumours are rumours, aren't they?

"Hopefully I'll get on the guest list for a show if it is.

Asked if he thought that being a mere guest would be a bittersweet experience as opposed to playing a support slot, Power was philosophical.

"We went out for 23 shows," he pondered. "I was like, right, okay, you're gotta have to let this go. Because I was - we were nearly in the band!"

He joked: "You know, you never get over your first love."

CAST perform their 1996 hit Walkaway in 2026

The CAST and former La's musician recalled that his band's appearance as a support act alongside Richard Ashcroft on a number of Oasis Live '25 dates was a hugely affecting experience.

"Every night we would go and watch the bands, right?" he told Moyles. "And every night I would sing my heart out to all the songs. "I knew them from when they first came out, but there was just something about the vibe.

"There was just something about it, a communion, a gathering. It became a happening more than a concert. And I think we needed it, you know?

"You know, the world is chaotic and it's quite a scary place out there. Sometimes you just need to gather gather the tribes and sing a song together. That's what happened that summer, and it was very special."

The film Don't Look Back In Anger - which documents the Gallagher brothers' reunion and the resulting Live '25 tour, which kicked off in July of last year - will open in selected IMAX® locations and cinemas across the world for a limited theatrical engagement which begins on Friday 11th September. Cinema listings and ticket information will be published soon.

The doc will be streamed exclusively on Disney+ internationally and on both Hulu and Disney+ in the United States later in the year.

The feature will include rehearsal, backstage and onstage footage as well as the first joint interviews with Noel and Liam in over 20 years.
