James Myers found out there was a warrant out for his arrest after being stopped for a broken tail light.
A man was arrested in North Carolina for failing to return a 14-year-old rental tape.
But, if that wasn't embarrassing and unbelievable enough, the VHS in question was 2001 film Freddie Got Fingered.
In the now viral news story reported on WSOC-TV, James Myers explained how he was stopped while driving with his daughter by police in his hometown of Concorde, North Carolina, for a defective "tail-light".
However, when the police looked up his record, it appeared there was a warrant out for his arrest due to a rental tape he'd failed to return back in 2002.
Despite it happening over a lifetime ago, and Myers not even remembering being told he owed Freddie Got Fingered AND the video store in question being closed, he was still arrested.
Watch him explain the whole ordeal below:
Despite Myers seeing the funny side, he did stress that his local police "are not focusing on the crimes they should be focusing on".
The star of the film, Tom Green, even caught onto the tale and gave his thoughts on the story.
I just saw this and I am struggling to believe it is real. https://t.co/GrTXoUj29X— Tom Green (@tomgreenlive) March 24, 2016
The actor and comedian - who is currently touring Australia - didn't stop there though, even calling up Myers to surprise him.

During the show, Green said: "I think it's sort of an example of how bureaucracy can get out of control".
