Cynthia Lennon - In Loving Memory
The family of John Lennon's first wife, married to the Beatle from 1962-68, has announced her death after a short battle with cancer.
Tributes have been pouring in to Cynthia Lennon, the first wife of John Lennon who was married to the singer for eight years as he became a worldwide star.
Her family confirmed that Cynthia had passed away at her home in Spain at the age of 75, with Julian - her son with John - by her side throughout her final days. It's understood that she had been battling cancer.
Cynthia and John met while studying at art school in Liverpool in the late 1950s, marrying right before Beatlemania gripped the world. Initially Beatles management insisted that John keep his marriage a secret.
In the late 1960s, the couple grew apart and John began a relationship with Yoko Ono. The couple divorced in 1968.
Cynthia would go on to write two books about her time with John, the latest being released in 2005.
Her son Julian uploaded the video above as a tribute to his mother today.
