It’s only a matter of days until Euro 2016 kicks off (Friday 10 June, actually) and with the teams already camped out in France, it seems as they need a bit of moral support.
Well England have nothing to fear, as Black Grape have made good on their promise to record a special song for the team to mark the tournament.
Released under the name Four Lions the band features Shaun Ryder and Kermit from Black Grape -who were Ryder’s next project after Happy Mondays - joined by super-producer Paul Oakenfold and drum’n’bass legend Goldie.
The result - We Are England - is released on Friday 10 June to coincide with the start of Euro 2016.
Listen to the track right here:
20 years ago, Black Grape released England’s Irie in time for the Euro 96 campaign, which featured Joe Strummer and actor Keith Allen. England got to the semi-finals that year… Will they match that success this time out… or even beat it?
