The Association of Independent Music Awards have recognised another great year for independent artists, labels and festivals with its fifth annual ceremony.
Wolf Alice, Jungle and Transgressive Records were amongst the big winners at this year's AIM Awards ceremony, hosted by our very own John Kennedy.
The awards look to celebrate the best in independent music in the UK, with Wolf Alice named Independent Breakthrough Act of the Year. Ellie from Wolf Alice praised the unique contribution of the independent sector as she picked up the prize. "Big up the independent people," she said, "you create more of a family with your label, when it is independent, because there is not so many of them and you work closely with them so it's just really nice."
Noel Gallagher was on hand to present Jungle with the PPL Award for Most Played New Independent Act and praised the band's sound. Also picking up prizes were the Golden Welly Festival, Transgressive Records and Enter Shikari.
