Jamie T - Carry On The Grudge

The Wimbledon singer-songwriter returns after 5 long year's with one of his most accomplished albums ever.

After complete silence for nearly five years, this summer Jamie T exploded back onto the scene. With just a simple message about playing a few gigs around the country, Jamie T made his triumphant return. His groundbreaking debut, Panic Prevention, made his name as a Jack-The-Lad songsmith, with tracks like Sheila & If You Got The Money. Its follow up, Kings & Queens, proved that Treays was more than a one trick pony; the album saw him outlive a number of his musical contemporaries from the decade of indie landfill. If Panic Prevention proved he had talent, then Kings & Queens proved he knew had to use it.

Then, at his height, Jamie T disappeared. Nothing. Silence. So silent in fact that rumours of his death began to circulate. Online petitions began to try and track Treays down, all to no avail.

In July, all of sudden, T starved fans were suddenly fed and the artist revealed new track Don't You Find. The track was downbeat, reserved, layered and, perhaps most surprising of all, relatively melancholy. Jamie T was certainly back, but as we'd never heard him before.

Follow up single Zombie echoes of the T we once new, but on the whole Jamie's third record is a step away from his "10 a day, little shit" sound. After time in the dark, T has found his sound. Carry On The Grudge is a mature, reflective and modest album.

When speaking about the new record, Jamie explained how he went to Damon Albarn for help. "Damon Albarn told me to write from the heart...To not give a fuck what anyone else thinks. He said that was the only way I was gonna get a record that was…I think he might have said, 'As good as mine'."
