The band will play Isle of Wight festival on Sunday 12 June.
Queen have been confirmed as the first headliners for Isle Of Wight 2016. Brian May and Roger Taylor will be closing the festival on Sunday 12 June joined by US singer, Adam Lambert, who takes on Freddie Mercury's vocals for the band on tour.
The news was announced today, by both Isle of Wight and the band on their official website.
On the news, Brian May said: “I think Queen at The Isle of Wight Festival is a date that was long overdue. How incredible to take on this challenge at this point in our lives. With an injection of new blood in the shape of the incredible Adam Lambert, Queen will be ready to tear it up on this legendary stage in 2016. Freddie would have loved it. Can’t wait.”
Roger Taylor added: “When I think of The Isle of Wight Festival I think of Hendrix, Dylan and The Who. What immortal company to be in! Queen are thrilled to be there and can promise a special night.”
Tickets are on sale now from the Isle Of Wight website.
The Bohemian Rhapsody rockers also confirmed it would be their only UK show of 2016, quashing any rumours they'll headline Glastonbury Festival next year.
So far, the likes of Coldplay, The Stone Roses, Radiohead and Foo Fighters are very much in the mix, with all bands either touring, releasing albums or teasing big announcements this year.
