The Manchester band will open the festival on Friday at The Other Stage.

James have been confirmed for Glastonbury 2016.

According to DIY, the Manchester seven-piece are set to officially open the festival on Friday 24 June at 11am at The Other Stage.

The whole event takes place on Worthy Farm from 22-26 June, and while revellers can arrive from Wednesday morning, music acts are officially billed from Friday to Sunday.

James will join previously announced headliners, Muse, Adele and Coldplay - who will headline the Pyramid Stage for a record fourth time.

Muse will also break records with their slot on Friday 24 June, making them the only band to headline the festival on all three days.

Adele - who will play the festival for the first time ever, confirmed the news to her fans at London's O2, while performing onstage.

According to the Official Charts Company, the Sit Down band are currently on route for a UK No.1 in 18 years with their Girl At The End Of The World album, which would knock Adele's 25 off the top spot.
