Michael Eavis has confirmed Oasis will not be playing Glastonbury in June.

The speculation started last week when Liam Gallagher tweeted the individual letters of the band's name. Bonehead later suggested it may have been because they went to the pub together.

The front page of The Star on Saturday also claimed that it was going to happen.

However speaking to Radio X organiser Michael Eavis confirmed that Oasis will not be taking the Saturday night top spot.

"The thing is, they have done it three or four times," he said. "They are a brilliant band, I'm an absolute total fan of their stuff but I don't see them coming back together again for at least another five years."

His daughter, co-organiser Emily Eavis, has also said that the band are not on the bill.

All the tickets for the festival in June are now gone. The sold out in just 16 minutes after yesterday's re-sale.

Arcade Fire and Kasabian have been confirmed as the Friday and Sunday headliners - but the Saturday spot has yet to be revealed.
