4. Badly Drawn Boy
Damon Gough has released a string of albums over the years, but it was 2000's Hour Of The Bewilderbeast that defined his sound and style. He bagged a Mercury Prize for the album and it gained him mainstream success. His follow up record, which soundtracked the film adaptation of Nick Hornby's About A Boy, continued his gentle style. His songwriting is thoughtful and reserved, but masks a gruff interior.
