The Wombats 2015

The Liverpool trio return with their shimmering third record Glitterbug.

The Wombats have released their follow up to 2010's This Modern Glitch, the outstanding Glitterbug. Their third record, Glitterbug is full of wit, heart and huge singalong choruses. The band have matured, but still hold that youthful sparkle that made us fall in love with them in the first place.

Speaking to Radio X about the new record, lead singer Murph described Glitterbug as their most personal album so far. He went on to explain how most of it was recorded "in a council estate in Battersea."

Radio X talks to Murph about Glitterbug

"Everything was mainly recorded with Mark Crew in Battersea, apart from one song Your Body Is A Weapon which was done in LA, and generally we followed the same kind of writing process as on albums one and two."

But the band also changed things up, with everyone taking inspiration from backing tracks before coming back together to exchange ideas, something Murph enjoyed: "It breathes a bit of fresh air into everything and it's nice not for me not to be the genesis of every song."

Glitterbug is released on 6 April 2015.
