Jack White has been revealed as being an anonymous benefactor who saved Detroit's Masonic Temple from closure.
The former White Stripes man's Mum reportedly used to be an usher at the venue and he had performed there with the band and as a solo artist.
He reportedly paid the entire $142,000 bill for back taxes that the Masonic Temple owed.
Apparently the temple's Cathedral Theater is going to be renamed as the Jack White Theater in tribute..
"Jack's donation could not have come at a better time and we are eternally grateful to him for it," Detroit Masonic Temple Association President Roger Sobran told the Detroit Free Press.
"Jack's magnanimous generosity and unflinching loyalty to this historic building and his Detroit roots is appreciated beyond words."
