The Smiths Join Twitter And Start Reunion Rumours, Then Completely Quash Them...

An official account for The Manchester band was created on the micro-blogging site last night.
An official Twitter was created for The Smiths last night, which set tongues wagging into the wee hours of the morning.
However, the account has finally made its first Tweet, quashing all rumours of a reunion and revealing it simply plans "to celebrate the history and the music" of the Manchester band.

The verified account - which sees the band pictured on their famous Salford Lads Club shoot - appeared on the micro-blogging site last night.
Naturally, Smiths fans hoped it meant the How Soon Is Now? outfit could be set to reform... although most people weren't holding their breath.

The band had amassed a whopping 11.4K supporters without sending a single tweet.
Now we've all been put out of our misery, perhaps we can still expect a reissued album or even a special release for Record Store Day?
