Courteeners To Take Year Off

Courteeners frontman Liam Fray has told Radio X the tiny shows he has been playing for us will be among the final ones before the band take a break.

"I think this gig will be the last one we do for a while... I'm not going to say for a long time 'cos I don't know. We played a lot of gigs this year and we've played those songs a lot. I think we need to go away and decide which ones work best, what we like and re-assses really for the next phase."

The frontman recently played tiny acoustic shows in our London and Manchester studios in front of just 30 fans as part of Radio X Presents... with Ford SYNC.

The band play their - pretty much annual these days - hometown Christmas gig at Manchester Arena on December 13 - and Liam admitted that's it after that, for the time being.

"[2014] will definitely be quieter. The arena will be your last chance to dance for a while... At least a year."

Liam Fray will be co-hosting the Radio X Manchester Breakfast Show with Tim Cocker on December 13.
