The RHCP drummer has told Radio X about the progress of the band's frontman, who was hospitalised last week.
Chad Smith has revealed Anthony Kiedis is "on the mend," following his hospitalisation due to a bout of intestinal flu.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer told Radio X about their frontman's health and confirmed the they'd return to the stage for their scheduled gig at Ohio "this weekend".
"His stomach was killing him (and) It was really scary," explained the Californication rocker. "So we went directly to the hospital and we were really upset we couldn't play for the fans, but also more worried about him.
"I really appreciate all the well wishes. People sent so much stuff."
Referring to all the tragic deaths the in the world of music this year, he added: "I know everyone's freaked out when they hear about another musician going into the hospital. It's been such a rough year.
"He's a very strong man and he"ll be back better than ever."
When asked about new album, The Getaway - which is set for release on 17 June - he teased: "It's super funky and extremely melodic and we just can't wait for people to hear it."
On their reason for choosing Dark Necessities as their lead single, he revealed: "We wanted it to still sound like us, but give people a taste of what's coming up."
Talking about their upcoming headline slots at T in the Park and Reading & Leeds Festival, he gushed: "They're legendary festivals and we're honoured to be a part of those, so we'll be playing our heart out."
