Aherne, who co created and starred on the show and was a friend of Gallagher, tragically passed away in July, aged 52, after losing her battle with cancer.
The Oasis man first paid tribute to the Mrs Merton star at his gig in Nashville on the same day after hearing the sad news.
Addressing the American crowd at the Ryman Auditorium, Gallagher said: "I'm going to dedicate the following song to a friend of mine who died this afternoon. Her name was Caroline, she used this next song in a very very very brilliant sitcom called The Royle Family.
"To wherever you are"
