A student in the US has this week written to the Sub Pop label asking for a video message from one of their artists… Nirvana.

The legendary grunge label posted on their blog that an unnamed student from Virginia Polytechnic and State University approached them and asked: "As a homecoming candidate, we were wondering if Nirvana could send a quick video to us… to widely distribute to our 30,000+ students during Homecoming Week.

"It presents great publicity for them and as Virginia Tech loves Nirvana, we'd love to have her [sic] in our video."

The student then suggested a script that the trio of Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl could use: "What's up Virginia Tech? This is Nirvana! Just wanted to wish you guys a Happy Homecoming Week and good luck at the game this Saturday. LET'S GO HOKIES!"

By appearing in the Homecoming video, the seminal, generation-defining grunge band would join the elated ranks of other artists that were already on board, including "Big N Rich, Ying Yang Twins, the Cataracs, Slightly Stoopid and three famous NFL Players".

"We dressed up and obliged," commented the staff of Sub Pop. Can't wait to see the video!
