The band will play the "pre-festival" shows in Cardiff and Liverpool.

The Maccabees have announced two "pre-festival warm up shows" for this summer.

The Marks To Prove It five-piece have confirmed shows at Cardiff University's Y Plas and Liverpool's O2 Academy this July, ahead of their headline slot at Latitude 2016.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday 31 March, with presale tickets available from tomorrow.

The Maccabees will play Lattiude's Obelisk Arena on Friday 15 July, followed by The National and New Order - who will headline on the Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Talking about the achievement, The Maccabees' guitarist Felix White told Radio X: "It's a big thing for us to be headlining a festival like that to be honest, because we've been playing all these kind of English festivals for maybe even more than ten years.

"And, from playing first on the new bands tent, to eventually reach the top of them... It's a pretty good feeling."
