Jamie T: "Some of my new music sounded like it was off the Rocky Horror Show!"

Jamie T - Zombie

The singer-songwriter has been telling Radio X that it's not always good to work alone and that some of the new material he was coming up with was a little …strange.

Speaking to Radio X's Danielle Perry on The Evening Show, Jamie described the thought processes behind his new track Zombie, which is taken from his forthcoming album Carry On the Grudge.

"I tend to go through stages of not really speaking to people all that much and spending all my time in the studio.  Things can get a little strange. Your perception of things can become a bit warped and I was certainly in the midst of that when I wrote [Zombie].

"[One time] I hadn't spoken to anyone in a few days and before you know it, a friend comes down and you're playing him stuff that sounds like it's off The Rocky Horror Show! You wonder if maybe you should go home and go to bed for a few hours…"

Jamie T performed some live shows last week, which needed a fair bit of rehearsal to get back up to speed after the lengthy break since

"I've never been one to remember songs all that well. Once I remember the first lyric, I can remember a bit more of it. I found myself having to buy my own music off the internet and looking for guitar tabs! It was a weird experience, but we got there in the end.

"The shows were great, they were somewhat a baptism of fire. It was lovely to see people still wanted us to play."

Carry On The Grudge is released on 29 September.
