Billie Joe Armstrong is in rehab after an onstage meltdown which saw him launch into an expletive-filled rant and smash his guitar.
In a post on their website the band confirmed the news that frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has checked into rehab and "is seeking treatment for substance abuse."
It follows an on stage melt down at iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas on Friday where the singer launched into an expletive-filled rant complete with guitar-smashing when the band were told they only had one minute left on stage.
There had been reports that their set was shortened due to an earlier act over-running but Green Day have denied that was the case.
"We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas," they wrote. "We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances."
It comes after they had to cut their set short in Las Vegas when Armstrong reportedly smashed his guitar during a meltdown on stage (you can see the video below).
Green Day fans have been sending get well messages to frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, taking to Twitter to send their good wishes.
