DMA'S "couldn't be more proud of" their "beautiful" new album

DMA's play new song Heatin Park and classic track Step Up The Morphine

The Aussie trio are set to release their fifth studio album and the follow-up to 2023's How Many Dreams? later this month.

DMA'S say they "couldn't be more proud" of their forthcoming record.

The Aussie trio - comprised of Tommy O'Dell, Johnny Took and Matt Mason - are set to release their self-titled fifth studio effort on 21st August 2026 and they stopped by The Evening Show to talk to Radio X's Rich Wolfenden about the record.

Quizzed on their decision to finally land on an eponymous title for the record, Took said: "You know, the songs we've released of this album, people have said it sounds like our older stuff. So it's sort of almost like a sort of a coming home kind of symbolic thing, you know. Also.... we just felt like it was a good time to do it."

"Well, it's album number 5, and we had it up our sleeve to do a self-titled record," added Mason. "We hadn't done like, well, we're gonna wait till album 10. I think it feels like a good time to do it, you know."

Teasing activity around the album's release and looking forward to the band's UK and Ireland dates for 2027, they added: "We're going to come around, do some signings, hit the record stores, and also we're going to be out in February hopefully doing some of our biggest shows and yeah, playing this new beautiful record that we couldn't be more proud of."

So far DMA'S have unveiled four tracks from the record, including the latest single Killing Time, Hurracane, My Baby's Place and the album's stadium-ready lead single, Heatin' Park.

The song was preceded by the trio returning to their indie roots with My Baby's Place—which came complete with dreamy vocals and a shoegazey sound, plus an equally nostalgic video, which follows a young group of friends on a fun-filled day (and night) out.

Despite the song's instantly infectious chorus, the single's creation began with its verses, which were written around a "back and forth between gratitude and destitution," explains Matt Mason.

DMA'S eponymous album was written and recorded between the band's own studio in Glebe, Sydney and Los Angeles and was co-produced for the most part with the GRAMMY nominated producer Lach Bostock (Mansionair), with help from Jimi Somewhere and Styalz Fuego.

The record - which follows Hills End (2016), For Now (2018), The Glow (2020) and How Many Dreams? (2023) - will be released on 21st August via Wonderlick Entertainment/Sony Music Australia/RCA UK and is available to preorder/presave here.

DMA'S will return to the UK and Ireland to play some of their biggest headline shows to date, which include two Manchester Academy shows and stops at the Eventim Apollo, London and Liverpool Olympia.
