David Bowie in Labyrinth

Nicole Perlman who was a huge fan of the original starring David Bowie has denied "reboot" claims.

This weekend saw the rumour mill suggest Labyrinth - starring the late David Bowie - was to be remade by Sony's TriStar studios.

The Hollywood Reporter wrote that TriStar had "closed a deal with The Jim Henson Co. to produce a new iteration and has hired Guardians of the Galaxy co-writer Nicole Perlman to pen the script".

However it seems the cult classic is being spared the reboot treatment, according to Perlman, who says the film is "perfect as it is".

The Guardians Of The Galaxy writer explained: "Henson Co & I started talking in late 2014, so the timing of these rumors is so upsetting. I would never seek to profit from Bowie's death.

"Labyrinth is my favorite film from childhood, so I share your concerns that any continuation of the world be handled with love and respect."

She added: "Guys, please don't fall for all the clickbait. No one is remaking "Labyrinth." That movie is perfect as it is."

Phew! So for now the much-loved 1986 film is safe. Celebrate by watching Bowie as Jareth singing the legendary Magic Dance!

Last week, the baby from Labyrinth has paid tribute to David Bowie with his own take on Magic Dance.

Toby Froud - who played the "babe with the power" in the the film - previously recreated his version of the iconic video, but last week posted it "memory" of the late rock star.
