Reports say the rapper is planning to record an album of Bowie covers.

Kanye West is reportedly set to record a David Bowie tribute album.

The rapper was one of the first celebrities to tweet on Monday (11 January) after the sad news had broken about the rock star.

Now, according The Mirror, the Black Skinhead star wants to go into the studio and cover Bowie's biggest hits.

A source told the Daily Star: "He is determined to carry on David's work as a musical innovator. He says that the torch has been passed to him."

When it comes to how it will sound, the paper reports that the record will include some "straightforward cover versions with Kanye actually singing," while others will see him put his own twist on the tracks.

Kanye has yet to comment on the claims.

Meanwhile, the Let's Dance singer's son has returned to Twitter to share a heartfelt thank you letter to Bowie from a Palliative Care Consultant

This weekend the tributes continued, with Arcade Fire leading their Pretty Things parade in New Orleans and London's Union Chapel holding a tribute concert for the late star.
