The Blur guitarist has been telling Radio X that the band’s reunion shows have “an overall shape like a fight”, promising to smack fans “really hard” at the start…

Speaking to Radio X London Breakfast Show host Jon Holmes this morning (10 June), Coxon revealed that the new material from the band’s latest album The Magic Whip is sounding good live.
He said: “What’s been interesting is slotting in the new album with old stuff and seeing how it sits. We’ve realised that quite a lot of old stuff seems appropriate and sits next to the new stuff quite well.”
Blur began a week of warm-up shows for their Isle Of Wight and Hyde Park appearances on Saturday (6 June) in Wolverhampton and played Glasgow Barrowlands last night.
Graham continued: “Overall the shape of a show is like a fight, really!
“You sort of smack ‘em really hard at the beginning, run away a little bit and then go a bit quiet and then put all your last energy into the last bit.
“We’ll probably tinker with the set over the next few days.”
Blur headline the Isle Of Wight festival this weekend and play London’s Hyde Park on 20 June.
