We chat to frontman Kele Okereke about Bloc Party's return and their new LP
Following a two-year hiatus, Bloc Party are back with new music, a new line up, and a new gig to go along with it. Frontman Kele Okereke stopped by the Radio X studios to play their new The Love Within single and reveal the name of their upcoming LP.
Asked about their latest studio album by Phil Clifton, Kele revealed: "We know that it’s called Hymns.” Despite the fact the album's yet to have an official release date, the frontman's itching to perform the band's unheard material.
"It’s been super frustrating, but it’s the same with every record, really. You’re just aching to share it and to start the creative process again and start writing."
Speaking about the band's The Love Within single and its synth-laden, otherworldly sound, Kele explained his intentions for the track. "I wanted something that sounded like we were standing on the edge of the universe. That was always the image in my mind.”
If The Love Within's not enough to whet your appetite, the indie fourpiece will be embarking on a UK and European tour. Plus, they'll be kicking it off at Glasgow's O2 ABC2, as part of The Radio X Road Trip with Chris Moyles, Together with O2.
