Do You Remember When Matt Helders Sang Last Christmas?

Matt Helders Boston 2009

Watch the Arctic Monkeys man get festive in the middle of Fluorescent Adolescent…

The US leg of Arctic Monkeys’ Humbug tour rounded off an amazing 2009 for the Sheffield band.

Off the back of their third Number 1 album and a headline slot at the Reading and Leeds festivals, the band embarked on a tour of UK arenas, before heading to the States.

As Christmas loomed, the Yorkshiremen found themselves playing to smaller crowds in North America and Canada. And, with the holiday period in full swing, the group decided on a special medley.

As Alex Turner paused in the middle of the classic Fluorescent Adolescent, drummer Matt Helders emerged from behind his kit to sit on the stage and lead the crowd in a few verses of Wham’s cheesy 1984 festive single Last Christmas.

Watch his performance at Boston’s House Of Blues on 14 December 2009 here - complete with glass of wine in hand. Excellent stuff.
