Arctic Monkeys Get Fifth Number One Album

Arctic Monkeys

Arctic Monkeys have made Official UK Albums Chart history, as AM entered the chart at Number One yesterday.

The band are the first indie-released act to get five number one albums in a row,.

AM sold more than 157,000 copies in the UK last week making it second fastest selling album of 2013 so far behind Daft Punk's Random Access Memories.

Alex Turner recently told Radio X that the entire album was inspired by what started off as a standalone single, last year's R U Mine?

"There was something about that that just seem like the best thing we'd done for ages," frontman Alex told Danielle Perry on the Radio X Evening Show.

"So this album was all about trying to make 12 tunes like that, really."
