Weezer: "We're not used to getting this much positivity"

Frontman Rivers Cuomo spoke to Radio X about the band's new album and the unexpectedly favourable reaction it's getting.

The Weezer frontman was chatting to Radio X's Danielle Perry about their new record Everything Will Be Alright In The End, and Rivers has revealed that it's an album catered for the audience.

"In about 2010, 2011, we started spending a lot more time with our fans, and it became clear that what everyone really wanted was another classic album," he said.

So after making a record for the fans, Weezer seem pretty happy with the reaction. "We're not used to getting this much positivity from the audience! Nowadays you can get so much instant feedback from social media. It's always been very mixed and a lot of negativity and kinda painful. But this time there's been an endless stream from fans saying how overjoyed they are to hear this record and that it's what they always dreamed we'd be doing."

When questioned on whether we can ever expect another Weezer Cruise, Cuomo said "we'd certainly love to! It's amazing to spend so much time with your fans…let's do it!"

Everything Will Be Alright In The End is out now.
