Sunshine, sea and great bands - Spain's premier festival is plain sailing, but here are some tried and tested tips for you to get the most out of FiB.
The festival lasts four days, but the campsite is open for eight…
Don't be tempted to swim in any communal pools on site...
...go to the water-park instead. We once saw The Vaccines coming back from there. TRUE STORY.
It's hot and the day and night is long. Remember, in Europe festivals start and end later and there are no acts on during the day.
Make sure you pitch your tent UNDER the awning thing that's supplied -otherwise that burning sun will wake you up at 6am after only an hour's sleep. Ouch.
Water is your friend. Have some water between every alcoholic drink to keep you hydrated and maintain your staying power.
If you need a siesta during the day, the campsite bar is usually closed and is nice and shady. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you fall asleep in the sunshine.
Don't get confused by the bars - Benicassim usually runs a token system: buy your tokens at the booth and then swap them for beverages.
Learn a bit of the language! It goes a LONG way at Beni.
Don't wear flip flops - the ground is quite stony and you end up with sharp pebbles under your feet.
Mind that sun. Remember our Australian cousins' advice: SLIP, SLAP, SLOP: SLIP on a SHIRT, SLAP on HAT, SLOP on some SUNCREAM.
Stay in a hotel if you can! It gets hot under canvas, but it's not always an option we know...
If you do camp, take some sturdy tent pegs - it can get quite windy on the coast.
The camping space fills up ridiculously quick, therefore hammocks can be made out of a blanket and string from the supermarket and hug from any pair of palm trees anywhere!
A dip in the sea is a great way to get rid of the cobwebs. The beach is only 20 minutes walk from the campsite.
We know you will!
