The Maccabees

The band's fourth album sees them finally take the top spot in the UK Album Charts.

The Maccabees have grabbed their first ever No.1 album with Marks To Prove It. It is currently their best performing record, which includes the singles Something Like Happiness and Spit It Out.

The band beat Lianne La Havas' second full-length record Blood and Years And Years' debut Communion.

The band thanked fans for the success. "We are very proud that our fourth album has given us our first Number 1," guitarist White told OfficialCharts.com. "Thank you so much to everyone that bought it and for staying with us all these years."

In a recent interview with The Guardian, The Maccabees criticised modern day London, stating that due to inflating house prices it's now impossible for young people to be creative. “It’s impossible,” said Felix, “It’s actually unfeasible. I mean, you can’t even afford to live in London any more. How can you expect to have creative people here? We’ve reached the first generation of people who are going to have to be dependent on their parents to live here, and that is terrifying.”

The Maccabees fourth album, Marks To Prove It, is out now.
