The Maccabees at the NME Awards Nominations Party

The Maccabees were behind Bruno Mars, Adele and Ed Sheeran - who all got a BRITs nominations sales boost.

Elsewhere, The Vaccines climbed 10 places to Number Six - one of the favourites for the Radio X New Music Award.

Speaking to Radio X last week The Maccabees said they knew they could do better than their previous album.

"We're proud of Wall of Arms, really happy with it and glad of where it got us but we knew immediately as soon as we finished it that we could do more," Felix confessed to Radio X's John Kennedy.

"There are a few songs on the record that I think the rest of the record might not have matched."

They were talking through Given to the Wild track by track on X-Posure at the time - Listen again>>>
