Dave Grohl takes part in Carrie inspired ALS icebucket challenge

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is the latest celebrity to take part in the ice bucket challenge - but he had to go one step further.

The charity fund-raiser sees celebrities doused in ice filled buckets of water after being nominated - and then going on to nominate others.

Nominees also have to make a donation to the ALS Association. ALS, also know as Lou Gehrig's Disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord - it caused muscles to be come weak and stiff.

Celebrities including Lady Gaga, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and US President Barack Obama have already taken part.

However, not content with simply having the ice water thrown over him for his challenge, Dave Grohl instead recreated the iconic scene from horror movie Carrie - including editing in crowd scenes from the original movie.

Grohl, ho was nominated by Zac Brown, has nominated Jack Black, author Stephen King and John Travolta. They have 24 hours to take up the challenge.
