Coldplay Cover John Lennon's Imagine As A Tribute To Paris

The band played a stripped-back gig in lieu of the terrible events.

Coldplay have paid tribute to Paris with an acoustic performance of John Lennon's Imagine. 

The British band opened their show at with a performance of the classic track at their gig in Los Angeles' Belasco Theatre, which they'd paired back in light of tragic events in the French capital on Friday 13 November.

Speaking in a statement before the event, the band said: ""We’ll play a short set of old material so that your journey isn’t wasted.

They continued:"We send our love and prayers to the people of Paris. Love Coldplay."

Coldplay are not the only act to show their support for the victims, with stars taking to social media to share their condolences.

Wolf Alice - who were also performing in the city - took to Twitter to confirm they were safe and show their solidarity. 


Foo Fighters, who were forced to cancel their gig in the city, told fans their "thoughts and prayers" were with " everyone who was hurt or who lost a loved one".

At least 129 people have been reported dead, following attacks at various sites in the city including the Eagles Death Metal gig at the Bataclan in the 11th  arrondissement of Paris.

A one minute silence was observed at 11am (GMT) on Monday 16 November as a tribute to those who lost their lives.
