Circa Waves admit new single So Long was almost binned

Kieran from Circa Waves has told Radio X their new single So Long almost never saw the light of day.

The single, produced by Dan Grech and recorded at RAK studios in London as part of their début album sessions, follows the release of previous singles Young Chasers and Stuck In My Teeth.

"It's a song written from a different angle, it's a love song but it's written from the angle of someone looking into an unrequited love situation," Kieran from the band told Radio X's Danielle Perry.

"It kind of came from a couple of various nights out and stuff and seeing friends being foolish, chasing after people they were never going to get."

Kieran also admitted the song almost ended up in the bin.

"It wasn't an immediate song,  I didn't think it was going to be much of a track, I don't think we even thought it was going to be on the album but the lads in the band were so insistent on recording it and once we recorded it it sort of took on its life of it own and ended up, we all wanted it to go on the album and then it ended up being the next single so it sort of was the dark horse on the record but it's probably my favourite track on the album."

So Long will be released through Virgin on Monday 20 October 2014.

The band recently announced their biggest headline tour to date, including a show at London’s Heaven, as well as a date supporting The Libertines at London’s Alexandra Palace.
