Alt-J announce O2 date

The band are to play their biggest headline date yet, at the O2 Arena on 24 January 2015.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Wednesday 20 August. The band are currently gearing up for the release of their second album, due on 22 September, alongside a full UK tour that included a show at London's Alexandra Palace that sold out in ten minutes.

Also this week, he band debuted a new song, Every Other Freckle and keyboardist Gus Unger-Hamilton told Radio X's Danielle Perry that the song has actually been around for a long time.

“This song is quite an old one of ours," he explained. "It's actually one we had before we made the first album, but it just wasn’t ready. I think we probably thought we might hold it back for the second album and work on it then. It sort of came together earlier this year."

He continued: "“We’re more experienced songwriters than we were back then. There's an interesting breakdow in the middle, which was not originally in the song. We knew the song needed something else and Simon came upon this idea of putting this middle section in and that was the moment when we thought: OK it's ready.”

The new Alt-J album, This Is All Yours, is released on 22 September.  Every Other Freckle is also available as an instant grat to those that pre-order the new album.
