John Cairns: Suspect arrested in connection with death of man in Shotts

Police Scotland have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a man as part of a murder investigation.

John Cairns, 24, was found seriously injured at a property in Shiel Gardens, Shotts, North Lanarkshire, at around 8.20am on Thursday 9 May.

Emergency services attended, but Mr Cairns was pronounced dead at the scene.

A murder probe was launched following a post-mortem examination.

In an update on Thursday, Police Scotland announced a 39-year-old man had been arrested in connection with Mr Cairns' death.

A force spokesperson added: "Enquiries are ongoing."
